Benzoyl Peroxide is the oldest and most effective treatment of acne. It is known for its antibacterial properties and when used in contact with the skin, B.P.O. releases oxygen, which kills P-Acne, a type of acne formed by bacteria that lives without oxygen below the skin surface. It causes peeling deep in the follicle, similar to A.H.A. and retinoids.
