Kappus

Kappus has been augmenting the soap-making experience and competences since 1848 and the love of this product has accompanied us throughout the years. This is apparent in the consistency and tradition as well in the ongoing new discoveries.

Kappus currently produce and package 50,000 tons of soap per year at their three locations. Kappus products can be found in over 80 countries around the world. Their research and development department continually develops new products – for their own standard collection as well as soaps manufactured for their private label customers.
The word soap comes from the Old Germanic sape referring to a reddish hair dye used by Germanic warriors to give them a daunting appearance or saipo, referring to dripping resin. The fact that this resin was later used for the production of soap bars carried the name forward to what they today call soap.
From a chemical perspective, soaps are composed of sodium or potassium salts from a long chain of fatty acids.

Soaps are made from fatty acid salts, manufactured from animal (beef tallow, pork lard, etc.) or plant-based (palm oil, coconut oil, olive oil, palm kernel oil, etc.) fats with the addition of alkalies (sodium hydroxide, pottassium hydroxide).
Soaps are produced from renewable raw materials.
Soaps are easily biodegradable.
Soaps are toxicologically safe.
Soaps therefore have only a negligable impact on our ecosystem.
